Floor Speech Submission Guidelines
Floor Speeches are a new take on op-eds. Our goal is to amplify thoughtful arguments regarding policy and politics from Organizations, Members of Congress, and their staff (anon. or attributable).
Submissions should follow these guidelines:
Tell us what you’re for: paint a picture of what you believe in and why, not why someone else’s view is wrong.
Length: Pieces should be quick and to the point. We’re not in college anymore!
Tone: Thoughtful, respectful, and in good faith. This is a space for high-IQ debate, not partisanship.
Structure: submissions should be broken up into 3 sections
Opening Statement (50 words): A concise summary of your argument.
One Minute (300 words): The substance of your argument.
Closing Argument (50 words): A summary or call to action. You can include a link here.
Example: See a Floor Speech here.
