More about Sadie & the 118 Foundation
A few years ago, Sadie was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin lymphoma - a serious form of cancer common in young women. During the intense six month treatment, Sadie felt a calling to start a non-profit dedicated to helping people like herself.
The 118 Foundation is an organization dedicated to serving young people who have and are in the process of overcoming cancer. In this episode, Sadie shared that there were not a lot of resources for young people battling cancer. The 118 Foundation provides financial and community resources to these individuals, with the mission that "sickness is not anyone's story."
This past month, the 118 Foundation celebrated it's one year anniversary. In their first year, the foundation was able to give $31,000 to young adults with cancer to help them pay for something special - like family dinners or trips - and assist in paying medical bills.
If you're looking to connect with someone who has seen the importance of community first-hand, you should talk to Sadie!
