Building the First House-Approved AI Tool

Find the episode now on…

Being a Hill staffer often feels like doing three or four jobs at once. For Jackson Tufts, that was the spark for creating a tool that could turn that multitude of jobs back into one.

🤖 As Founder of articleOne, Jackson is building an AI-native policy intelligence platform designed specifically for policy professionals. Unlike generic AI tools, articleOne is built around verifiable data and clean, machine-readable information sourced directly from the federal government.

🏛 Jackson isn't just a tech founder, he's a Hill veteran with nearly a decade of experience. He spent almost eight years working for his hometown Congressman, David Price, eventually serving as his National Security and Foreign Affairs Adviser.

✅ articleOne recently became the first dedicated AI-native policy intelligence platform approved for use in the House of Representatives. Jackson is excited to provide staffers with tools that create a "context bubble" around past legislative decisions, saving time on everything from constituent mail to sorting through hundreds of NDAA amendments.

Advice Going From Staffer to Entrepreneur 💡

Jackson believes there has never been a better time for staffers to make the jump into entrepreneurship, especially in the AI space. He offers a few key pieces of wisdom for those looking to level up their careers:

  • "Expose yourself to differing points of view and make sure that you are taking opportunities to really listen to what other people are saying and turn the TV off from time to time because it is just an echo chamber."

  • Embrace the slog: Building a company means long days and late nights, but it is easier when you know you are creating something genuinely useful. Jackson and much of the articleOne team are former Hill staffers themselves, so they understand firsthand the problems they are trying to solve and the people they are building for.
