☕️ CNCT Coffee Review: Starbucks (Longworth)
Longworth Café
Reviewed by Emily

Our second Starbucks review of the month, but this time the review is kinda good. Starbucks is fast and efficient – well, most of the time at least. I would NOT recommend doing a mobile order here. The order board was longer than my to-do list for the day. Ordering in person was fast, though, and I got my drink two minutes after ordering, which was very impressive for how busy they were.

Starbucks in November and December is the best simply because of their holiday drinks. So, of course, I had to get one.

I got a hot Caramel Brûlée Latte. It was delicious. I was surprised how tasty it was for how busy they were – it had just the right balance of flavors. I also tried the Cranberry Bliss Bar, but it is way too sweet for my liking. I honestly couldn’t look past the ‘holy sweetness’ reaction I had after my first bite, and it notably took longer than my drink to come out.

Now, what I’m sure you care about the most, how is it for networking? Obviously, this location is top-notch – House staffers really can’t do better than this (Senate staff might have to carve out a good chunk of time to walk over). There’s lots of chatter going on from networking coffees to phone calls, creating a great café environment even in the basement of Longworth.

My biggest critique of my visit (apart from the disappointing pastry) was the yelling out of order names. It was non-stop and aggressively loud compared to other coffee shops. The chatter is not overwhelming, but with the busyness and yells of order names (even with my trusty AirPods in) it could be quite distracting.

CNCT’s Ratings

  • Coffee: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (the ideal spot for holiday drinks)

  • Food: ⭐☆☆☆☆ (needless to say I would not recommend the Cranberry Bliss Bar)

  • Speed: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (fast drinks, slow pastries)

  • Ambiance: ⭐⭐⭐☆☆ (busy and loud, but somewhat conversation-friendly)

  • Accessibility from the Hill: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (the perfect location for House staff)

Overall: 3/5 — Although there’s been quite some controversy on replacing the Dunkin’, I have to say I was pleasantly surprised!
