As Reform chips away at the Tory vote, the Conservatives face a stark choice – join forces with Nigel Farage or fight alone. James Heale, The Spectator’s deputy political editor, will be joined by Conservative peer Daniel Hannan, journalist and politician Paul Goodman, shadow cabinet member Victoria Atkins, and former Brexit secretary David Davis as they lock horns over what a Conservative–Reform pact might look like – and whether it should happen at all.

Just over seven years ago, Reform UK burst on to the political scene promising a ‘democratic revolution’. Once dismissed as a ‘brilliant failure’, it now tops the polls and claims Britain’s largest party membership. By contrast, the Conservatives, after years of scandal and disappointment, are rapidly losing ground. With no clear majority in sight for either party, the question of whether the right should unite or compete has become increasingly pressing. Conservative critics, however, warn that any alliance would betray their core principles and could prove a serious strategic misstep.
