Fake is the word. Fake autobiographies, deep fake faces, fake news. Our technology and communications have further distanced us from what is real in the world. In this Ethical Matters talk, learn how, why and discover ways we can re-find the truth with Dr Jon Roozenbeek and media literacy agency Shout Out UK.

Dr Jon Roozenbeek is a Lecturer in Psychology at the University of Cambridge. His research focuses on modern propaganda and understanding and countering misinformation, disinformation, and extremism. He co-developed the award-winning fake news games Bad News, Harmony Square and Go Viral, which explore the tactics and manipulation techniques that are used to mislead people, build up a following, or exploit societal tensions for political purposes.

Matteo Bergamini MBE is a leading voice in the field of political and media literacy, having founded the multi-award-winning social enterprise Shout Out UK (SOUK) in 2015 at the age of 22. He is a recognised policy expert who has given evidence before House of Lords select committees, and he has been appointed to key industry groups, including NewsGuard's Board of News Literacy Advisors. Shout Out UK is a multi-award winning creative social enterprise aiming to defend and amplify democracy. Their education programmes on Media & Political Literacy have been utilised to combat disinformation and extremism nationally and internationally.
