During this talk, Dr Matteo Augello will discuss the importance of fashion in shaping the reputation of Italy and the role played by governmental bodies and industry associations in international relations. About our Speaker

Dr Matteo Augello is a fashion historian and lecturer based in London, where he collaborates with the Italian Cultural Institute on their fashion programming. His first monograph, Curating Italian Fashion: Heritage, Industry, Institutions (Bloomsbury, 2022) is the first extensive account of fashion exhibitions in Italy. He combines teaching commitments at universities in London, Milan and Dubai with freelance work as a curator and speaker. He has taken part in radio programmes such as Words and Music on BBC Radio 3 (2021) and podcasts such as the series Vogue Closet by Vogue Italia (2023). In 2024, he was the key moderator at the ELIA Biennial Conference in Milan, dedicated to artistic intelligence.
