China’s push for technological self-reliance is poised to reshape global economic and geopolitical dynamics, yet its wider implications remain under-analysed.

Convened shortly after the launch of China’s Fifteenth Five-Year Plan, this closed-door invitation-only briefing will bring together leading experts to discuss the Plan’s focus on “new frontiers” - emerging strategic arenas such as AI, quantum, digital and space infrastructure and biotechnology and through which Beijing seeks to generate new sources of growth, power and international influence.

The dialogue is hosted by the Centre for Geopolitics of Global Change at ODI Global, and forms part of ODI Global's work engaging with decisionmakers to understand China’s perspectives and approaches to global challenges.
